Lisa Ghoury, one half of Happy Parents. 😊
My husband and I rang in 2019 in a daze of exhaustion. We were in the trenches with an eight month old who refused to sleep, but we managed to stay up and celebrate because it was our first New Year's as parents and we had a whole lotta love in our hearts.
Like everyone, we'd had to let go of some things when we had a baby in order to make room for our biggest adventure yet-being parents. Nothing we gave up seemed like a sacrifice...except eating out. 2018 had been a year of take out thanks to our fear of being in a restaurant with a screaming baby.
We missed being out, trying new places, and having good food and drinks. It had been a big part of our old life and so we resolved to venture back out in the New Year, with our baby.
Dating doesn't have to be expensive! In fact, it's way more fun to go on dates that don't blow up your bank account. Here are some things that we've been up to, or things we're planning on doing this summer for our cheap dates in the Fraser Valley:
1. Backyard Vineyards
This place is a gem in the Fraser Valley, and they have a happy hour! Pack your own picnic, grab a glass of wine or a beer on discount, and enjoy the beautiful, serene atmosphere.
You can sit inside, but outside is where it's at. There are picnic tables with umbrellas on the lawn, a large gazebo with tables, or bring a picnic blanket and just relax away from everyone. It is the perfect setting for a romantic date.
They also have lots of fun stuff going on like board game nights, live music, markets, and more. Check out their website for upcoming events!
Whether you're shopping for yourself or trying to find a meaningful baby shower gift, you're in the right place. Give the gift of freedom with this portable high chair.
As new parents, we suddenly weren't sure if we'd be welcome in breweries, wineries, restaurants, or pubs with our kid, or even if we should be going to some of these places with our baby. But like all parents, we needed time out of the house where we could feel "human" and connect over good food and drinks in a fun atmosphere.
The truth is, we aren't welcome at ALL the same places we used to go, and that's been a hard pill to swallow. Have you had a hard time with this too?
